10 Thoughts About Writing On Social Media.

Being a creative person in Nigeria has been a journey. A bumpy, exciting and sometimes frustrating journey.

Here are a few thoughts about writing on social media for about 3.5 years:

1. I am very mindful of what I choose to share, and how I choose to share it. You could make assumptions about me based on what I write, but that would only be a part of my story.

2. I learn something new about writing everyday; I do not see myself as an all-knowing writing champion.

_____________________

3. I’ll say this again. I write stories and poetry. Poetry and stories. And some essays. I share what I write on social media. This is what I do. STOP ASKING ME TO READ OR WRITE THINGS FOR YOU JUST BECAUSE ‘I’m a Writer’.

4. Those basic typing skills from JSS3 Business Studies class which I didn’t take seriously at the time have come in handy in the last few years.

5. I would rather read poetry than listen to someone recite poetry. I don’t know why. I just like reading things.

6. If you don’t enjoy reading, then it is likely that you won’t enjoy writing. I am always reading a book. Always. It’s a problem (but a nice problem).

7. I do not take kindness towards my writing for granted. One nice comment can put a silly smile on my face for hours.

8. I write my posts in a certain way because I want people to enjoy reading what I write. My eyesight is not the best. If I can’t read a post at a glance because of the font, I keep on scrolling.

9. Writing and sharing posts on social media is good, but meeting a real-life human being who also enjoys writing is even better.

10. Due to my experiences with Copycats/copy-pasters, I almost stopped writing in 2016. Almost.
